Potato is one of the most important crops grown in Egypt for local consumption, export, and processing. The area cultivated with potatoes about 212,000 acres producing about 2.2 million tons, with an average of 10.5 tones per acre.
It’s known that Egyptian potatoes are harvested at times when the harvest has ended in many other countries, Egyptian potatoes are famous for their ability to withstand hot and cold weather in Clay or Sand oil, And it’s free of any large extent from both sides inside and outside of any diseases or epidemics especially diseases that affect human health.
The most famous varieties of Egyptian potatoes are:- Spunta, Cara, Lady rousetta, Nicola, and Diamonti.
