The grapefruit is a large orange-like fruit that belongs to the citrus family. It is somehow a “new” addition to the family, deriving from a natural cross-breeding between orange and pomelo. It is called grapefruit simply because it grows in clusters, like grapes.
Description: The fruit is nearly round to slightly pear-shaped. It has a smooth, finely dotted peel with a pale yellow color, sometimes blushed with pink and aromatic outwardly. The pale-yellow, nearly whitish, or pink, or even deep-red pulp is segmented with thin, membranous and bitter walls, which is very juicy and acid to sweet-acid in flavor when fully ripe.
